Today’s Readings:
Isaiah 54
Hebrews 3-4

12 Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. 13 But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. 15 As it is said,
“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”

Hebrews 3:12-15

The Spirit of the Lord says,
Truth is solid, definitive, immovable. Truth doesn’t shift like sinking sand. Truth is an impermeable, immovable rock. Truth is not one who changes their stripes to suit the occasion. Truth does not blend in with its surroundings and does not morph to appease its setting. Truth is stark, heavy, permanent and unchanging.

Lies change. Lies morph. Lies seek to please or resolve for the moment, the instance, the friction. Lies seek to solve for the perceived problem, and they change ever so slightly as the setting changes, as the surrounding facts change, as the need to be met changes. Lies are like a chameleon. Lies inhabit and are like the breath of chameleons who know not their color or their stripe. They can change, because their identity changes with their surroundings. As reality and need changes, so does the liar and the lies.

In righteousness you shall be established;
you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear;
and from terror, for it shall not come near you.
15 If anyone stirs up strife,
it is not from me;
whoever stirs up strife with you
shall fall because of you.

Isaiah 54:14-15

Truth stands immovable, noticeable — whether patiently or impatiently, it will not be moved or change its position. Truth is unapologetically truth. Truth does not fudge around the edges. Truth does not soften the blow. Truth is neither harsh nor kind in and of itself. How truth is received is up to the ears and the heart and the eyes of the receiver. Lies and false narratives carry poisonous darts that are hidden, but they can be felt. These poisonous darts can be lobbed off by the breastplate of righteousness and by the shield of faith. They do not need to touch the intended recipient. Lies can fall inertly to the ground as the trash they are, if the recipient refuses them entry, refuses them airtime, refuses them an equal standing with the truth.

12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Hebrews 4:12-13

Truth carries a glow of healing light. It can permeate darkness. It can heal wounds old and new alike. It can bind up and be salve to wounds that have long festered. The truth is a light, a salve and a two-edged sword. To those who love truth, who seek and desire truth, who have truth in the innermost parts — when truth slices for these, it cuts through the veil of lies. It cuts through what has hindered and infected. Truth slices to heal the ones who love, seek and desire truth.

For those who love lies, love hiding from truth, fear truth and live in denial of truth — the double-edged sword of truth is a menace and a terror to their carefully constructed paper houses. Truth’s double-edged sword can destroy all that they have built and all they have lived in, touched, surrounded themselves with and believed. Truth can be a destroyer.

16 Behold, I have created the smith
who blows the fire of coals
and produces a weapon for its purpose.
I have also created the ravager to destroy;
17 no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed,
and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord
and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”

Isaiah 54:16-17

Truth is rising. Truth is gaining visibility. Truth has not changed and will not move. Truth is standing tall, as its own fortification that requires no protection beyond itself. It is impermeable, impregnable and immovable. Truth is rising, and those who love lies and liars will have some tough days and moments ahead.

For those who are resistant, truth will seem to carry one heck of a bite; and that double-edged sword of truth will bring personal and mass destruction of false constructs, of paper houses, of paper vehicles. Truth is coming and will destroy the paper constructs of the liars and those who have lived like ostriches in denial. The sword of truth will destroy all they have built made of paper. Truth will lay them bare, vulnerable and stunned for all the world to see.

How to Respond

  • Desire truth and place a high value on truth.
  • Pray, Lord, search my heart. Show me any false ways, beliefs and lies within me. Help me to replace them with Your truth — with real truth. Heal all of the places that are wounded by the infection of festering lies — about You, about myself, about the hearts and motives of others, about my past and current situations. Help me to clear those out and bring Your healing light and balm of truth into those places in my heart and life.

  • Declare, The Lord desires truth in the innermost parts. The Lord desires truth to be the standard and the plum line from which all of society lives and operates. The Lord is coming to expose and destroy the false constructs and lies built by the hands of liars. He is coming to expose the liars with the undeniable, immovable, unignorable, unchangeable truth.
  • Decree, I will be found on the side of truth. I will be vindicated with the Lord because of the rise and prosperity of truth. Truth will take down lies and false constructs. Truth will expose liars and leave them vulnerable in full view of the world. Truth will be victorious.
