Today’s Readings:
Joshua 3
Hebrews 12

5 Then Joshua said to the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.”

Joshua 3:5

The Lord says,
It’s time for movement. It’s time for action. It’s time for advancement. It’s time to run. It’s time to shake off the cobwebs and the things from your present or past that are entangling you, slowing you down or hindering you from running freely. It’s time to start making decisions for your future. It’s time to take steps to leave the place between the Red Sea and the Jordan. It’s time for you to take the steps to cross into your own promised land.

12 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Hebrews 12:1-3

Let go and cut off that sin which entangles you. Let go of old routines, old habits, old commitments that no longer serve you. Live with a lot of margin, so you have the freedom and ability to pick up the opportunities I bring your way — for conversations, for engagements, for connection. This is a time to be in a “try it on” on mindset. Be willing to try new things, entertain new ideas and see from different perspectives. In this shaking and rearranging, new ways of seeing and doing things will be required. The way you have always done things will no longer work. It’s a new time that calls for a new way.

25 See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if those did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape who turn away from Him who warns from heaven. 26 And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heaven.” 27 This expression, “Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; 29 for our God is a consuming fire.

Hebrews 12:25-29

Tap into your spirit of adventure and be willing to leap. Be willing to explore. Be willing to try something new. Be willing to take big risks upon which My favor and pleasure rest. This is a time of doing things differently. The Israelites made it to the promised land, because they were obedient and took what looked like big risks. They advanced with boldness. That’s the mindset, the attitude and the posture required in these days. Be willing to leave the old profession behind, the old identity behind, the old reliable hats that you have worn for so long behind. These are new days. They bring a fresh calling, with new hats and your identity that is based in Christ alone.

11 All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.12 Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble, 13 and make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed.

Hebrews 12:11-13

Your identity needs to be pruned of anything that We don’t say you are. You are dearly loved. You are beautiful. You are gifted. You are made perfect and righteous and pure in the blood of Jesus. You have the heart of a warrior and the ferocity of a lion. You were made for adventure, fun, joy and laughter. Let those be the wrappings of your identity. Try those on and make them your new, refreshed, expertly tailored identity. They look good on you.

Position yourself as one who is open to new; open to opportunity; open to change; open to ideas; open to risk, adventure and even war to take new ground. The old days are dying all around you. Position yourself, your household and your mindset to advance into the new and to grasp the new with gusto.

How to Respond

  • Sit with the Lord. Ask Him to show you how to free up headspace and time in your life in a way that creates room for new opportunities.
  • Pray, Lord bring me fresh vision for the future. Bring me new opportunities, connections, ideas and the energy to engage with them in an open and fresh way. Help me to get rid of all of the things in my life that are not going to be useful in this new season. Help me to not let sentimentality or apathy get in the way of the new things You want to do in my life. Thank You for the invitation into my promised land. Help me to take the risks You call me to take to get there.
  • Declare, the Lord has created these days for change, risk, opportunity and adventure.
  • Decree,
I will prune my life and remove all that is holding me back from exploring new opportunities, ideas and connections.
The enemy will not bully me into staying in the same place with the same attitude and the same identity.
I will put on my identity in Christ, and I will refuse any identity that is not aligned with who He says I am.
I am a child of God who thrives on adventure, risk, boldness and advancing.
