Today’s Reading:
2 Peter 1
Isaiah 28
16 Therefore thus says the Lord God,
Isaiah 28:16-18
“Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone,
A costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed.
He who believes in it will not be disturbed.
17 “I will make justice the measuring line
And righteousness the level;
Then hail will sweep away the refuge of lies
And the waters will overflow the secret place.
18 “Your covenant with death will be canceled,
And your pact with Sheol will not stand;
When the overwhelming scourge passes through,
Then you become its trampling place.
The Spirit of the Lord says,
Resurrection. Resurrection of souls. Resurrection of lives. Resurrection of sight and vision. Resurrection of hearing and accepting the true sound. I Am the true sound. I Am the true way. I Am taking us back to foundational principles. I’m taking us back to the most essential foundation. I’m taking us back to the foundation that is central to family, to home. I’m restoring the plumbing that allows the toxins to flow out and not remain trapped. I’m restoring the heartbeat of the home to His rightful place. His Name is Jesus. Jesus is central, is foundational. He must be the rock upon which you stand, the foundation upon which you build, the accessible one to whom you speak, in whom you confide and with whom you share life. He is the exalted Savior on His throne, the revered one, the honored one, the Holy One of Israel.
10 Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble;11 for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you.
2 Peter 1:10-11
I’m taking us back to the foundations — to fundamental, elemental, structural truth upon which healthy and whole lives can be built, upon which family and spiritual well-being can be built, upon which a hope and a future can be built; and they will not be shaken. I’m bringing us back to essential truth, to eternal principles that cannot and will not, that do not change.
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; 3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 4 For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.
2 Peter 1:2-4
I’m resetting the compass to True North, and the prevailing winds, the adverse winds will not blow you off course if your feet are firmly planted on the beautiful foundation, the essential, elemental foundation upon which all life, happiness and godliness is built. You will not be shaken and you will not be blown off course if you plant your feet on the Rock, Jesus, upon whom your faith is built. If you plant your feet on His glorious foundation, no shifting sand will find you. Set your gaze firmly upon Jesus, and though the earth totters and sways, though the winds pick up all around you, you will stay the course, and you will not be moved from it. You will not sink, and you will not falter. Set your eyes on your Savior and King. Set your eyes, your gaze, your hope and your life upon Jesus, and you will experience His promise of a glorious, bright, shining new day.
How to Respond
- Reset your feet and your focus on Jesus. Re-order your life so that He is central and all else operates in cooperation with Him.
- Pray, Holy Spirit, show me how to build my life in a more excellent way. Show me how to rearrange, remove and reprioritize, so that Jesus is the foundation, Jesus is central and Jesus is King.
- Declare, the Lord is moving us back to foundational truth. He is calling us back into reliance and partnership with Jesus.
- Decree, Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. He is the rock on which I stand. He is the foundation of my life and home. He is the central partner, counselor and friend upon whom I rely and with whom I do life and co-labor. He is my Savior, my King and my reward.
