Today’s Readings:
Psalm 33
Isaiah 58
33 It’s time to sing and shout for joy!
Psalm 33:1-4
Go ahead, all you redeemed ones, do it!
Praise him with all you have,
for praise looks lovely on the lips of God’s devoted lovers.
2 Play the guitar as you lift your praises loaded with thanksgiving.
Sing and make joyous music with all you’ve got inside.
3 Compose new melodies that release new praises to the Lord.
Play his praises on instruments
with the anointing and skill he gives you.
Sing and shout with passion; make a spectacular sound of joy—
4 For God’s Word is something to sing about!
He is true to his promises, his word can be trusted,
and everything he does is reliable and right.
The Lord says,
Sing a new love song. Sing a song into the darkness. Let your song pierce the darkness and cause My light to invade. Sing a song of love, of worship and watch My truth respond. Use your voice to pierce the darkness and watch the light of My truth invade in response. This is what it looks like in the spirit.
10 and if you offer yourselves in compassion for the hungry
Isaiah 58:10-11
and relieve those in misery,
then your dawning light will rise in the darkness
and your gloom will turn into noonday splendor!
11 Yahweh will always guide you where to go and what to do.
He will fill you with refreshment
even when you are in a dry, difficult place.
He will continually restore strength to you,
so you will flourish like a well-watered garden
and like an ever-flowing, trustworthy spring of blessing.
See the value and necessity of your song, your worship, your love pouring forth audibly into the the darkness. It’s vital. It breaks open space in the atmosphere to allow My truth to invade. Sing to Me. Sing for Me. Work with Me.
6 “This is the kind of fast that I desire:
Isaiah 58:6-8
Remove the heavy chains of oppression!
Stop exploiting your workers!
Set free the crushed and mistreated!
Break off every yoke of bondage!
7 Share your food with the hungry!
Provide for the homeless
and bring them into your home!
Clothe the naked!
Don’t turn your back on your own flesh and blood!
8 Then my favor will bathe you in sunlight
until you are like the dawn bursting through a dark night.
And then suddenly your healing will manifest.
You will see your righteousness march out before you,
and the glory of Yahweh will protect you from all harm!
Break open the darkness with your song. I will respond with the invading light of My truth. It will penetrate and expand; and it will shatter what remains of the darkness.
18 The eyes of the Lord are upon
Psalm 33:18
even the weakest worshipers who love him—
those who wait in hope and expectation
for the strong, steady love of God.
Your song is a powerful force. Your worship is a force to be reckoned with. Carry around with you an attitude of thanksgiving and the grace of My Presence in your life. The darkness trembles at your moving, at your beauty, at your authority. Walk in the beautiful grace of My Presence. Hold your head high and your shoulders back. Carry yourself as the royalty that you are, as the child of the King that you are.
10 With his breath he scatters the schemes of nations who oppose him;
Psalm 33:10-11
they will never succeed.
11 His destiny-plan for the earth stands sure.
His forever-plan remains in place and will never fail.
Give no inch to darkness. Tolerate it not. Make your declarations against the dark elements trying to invade your home, your community and country. Sing beautiful songs of worship, and invite Me to invade with the light of My truth, the piercing, expanding boundless light of My truth.
How to Respond
- Worship. Sing new spontaneous songs or powerful songs of old. Sing whether you feel like it or not. Sing until you feel the light of the Truth of the Lord invade your atmosphere and break through.
- The Lord responds to our worship by bringing the light of His truth. Welcome Him. Partner with Him in decimating the darkness in the place you live.
- Serve and reach out to help to those in need. These are beautiful acts of worship. They come from the overflow of the song to Him in your heart.
- Walk in confidence and with a great recognition of the Lord’s faithfulness.
- Live from a place of ongoing thanksgiving. It causes the darkness to tremble.
- Use your authority in Jesus to rebuke the powers of darkness that are wreaking havoc in your home and community – spirits of deception, control, religion, anger, depression that leads to drug use, etc.
- (Example) Declare, I will not tolerate depression and drug use in my community. I declare that this place (my home/city name/parish or county name) is under the jurisdiction of the Lord Jesus Christ, and love, righteousness and truth reign here.
