Today’s Readings:
Psalm 123-127
Nehemiah 4

125 Those who trust in the Lord
Are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but remains forever.
2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
So the Lord surrounds His people
From this time and forever.
3 For the scepter of wickedness will not rest upon the land of the righteous,
So that the righteous will not extend their hands to do wrong.

Psalm 125:1-3

The Lord says,
Stand your ground. Don’t back down. Though the pressure and the heat is intense and growing stronger, don’t back down. Stand your ground. I won’t back down. I am backing you up. I am standing right behind you, and we will stand right here until the gates of hell retreat. Even now, you can see the gates of hell are quivering and shaking. You can see that they are losing nerve, and they are looking for backup that is not coming. They are inching away, and soon they will be in full panicked retreat. We are causing the very gates of hell to back down, to flee and to retreat from the scene.

127 Unless the Lord builds a house,
They who build it labor in vain;
Unless the Lord guards a city,
The watchman stays awake in vain.

Psalm 127:1

In standing your ground, I will bring you to a new place. It’s an unfamiliar place, and this is a place with no established structures. This is a place of planning and building. This is a place where nothing exists but the ground beneath you and the nature around you. The land has been prepped and the limestone gravel road that leads to this place is freshly spread. The view is stunning. The outlook is glorious. But the building plans have yet to be made. We are here in the clearing, at the right spot, with eyes on Jesus and the future. When you reach this place, don’t daydream too long. Call on trustworthy builders to come in. They will uncover the Glorious Old Foundation, and they will build upon it in wisdom. The vistas are beautiful, but the way you build is what is important now.

16 And from that day on, half of my servants carried on the work while half of them kept hold of the spears, the shields, the bows, and the coats of mail; and the captains were behind all the house of Judah.17 Those who were rebuilding the wall and those who carried burdens carried with one hand doing the work, and the other keeping hold of a weapon. 18 As for the builders, each wore his sword strapped to his waist as he built, while the trumpeter stood near me.

Nehemiah 4:16-18

Get the right people and the right materials for the job. As you are building on this Glorious Old Foundation, you will want to keep the lines and the structure simple. You will want as much of the foundation to be exposed as possible. It’s a glorious and beautiful foundation. Don’t cover it and clutter on top of it as it was before — with complication and weak materials that allowed vermin to creep in and overrun the structure. Build in wisdom, in faith and with Me at the center. The building site will need to be guarded fiercely and vigilantly, so that the gates of hell do not creep back in. Some must stand guard, others must build. Even the builders must be on guard.

2 “Had it not been the Lord who was on our side
When people rose up against us,
3 Then they would have swallowed us alive,
When their anger was kindled against us;
4 Then the waters would have flooded over us,
The stream would have swept over our souls;
5 Then the raging waters would have swept over our souls.”

Psalm 124:2-5

Stand your ground. Don’t back down. The gates of hell are beginning to shake and tremble, and soon they will be in full retreat. Don’t give the enemy an inch. He will always take more than you intended to allow. Don’t back down. Instead, stand firm. Look the gates of hell squarely in the face. Stand firm, and watch as the gates of hell do indeed back down. You will see once the smoke clears, that I have brought you to this unfamiliar place. It was the place I established your forefathers — the Founding Fathers. We are going back to the Glorious Old Foundation. We will rebuild upon the foundation that was lost, forgotten and covered over.

126 When the Lord brought back the captives of Zion,
We were like those who dream.
2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter
And our tongue with joyful shouting;
Then they said among the nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.”
3 The Lord has done great things for us;
We are joyful.

Psalm 126:1-3

As this foundation is revealed to the people, they will gasp with surprise at the depth, the beauty, the meaning and the provision of the Glorious Old Foundation. Many will come from far and wide to see first-hand and to give honor to the Glorious Old Foundation. It will be cause for great reverence, and it will cause the builders and the onlookers to approach the re-building with great care, great wisdom and with the precision of one who restores extremely valuable artwork. The restoration and rebuilding process will be done with great precision, great care, and every step will be announced and made known to the people. This will be a very public, very visible re-building. Rejoice, because the battle is nearly won.

How to Respond

  • Continue to encourage yourself in the Lord. Determine that you will not back down in the face of the enemy’s advances.
  • Pray, Lord, strengthen me and those who are standing for what is right against the very forces of hell’s army. Refresh us and send us reinforcements.
  • Declare, the battle is nearly won, and the gates of hell are backing down even now.
  • Declare, the Lord is bringing us back to foundational Biblical truths and the foundational principles upon which this country was established.
  • Sing songs of victory and praise.
