Today’s Reading:
Isaiah 59
8 They do not know the way of peace,
Isaiah 59:8-11
And there is no justice in their tracks;
They have made their paths crooked,
Whoever treads on them does not know peace.
9 Therefore justice is far from us,
And righteousness does not overtake us;
We hope for light, but behold, darkness,
For brightness, but we walk in gloom.
10 We grope along the wall like blind men,
We grope like those who have no eyes;
We stumble at midday as in the twilight,
Among those who are vigorous we are like dead men.
11 All of us growl like bears,
And moan sadly like doves;
We hope for justice, but there is none,
For salvation, but it is far from us.
The Spirit of the Lord says,
Justice. Justice for all that has been robbed and stolen. Justice for horrifying unthinkable acts done with brazen impunity. Justice for smug faces of those who commit the darkest types of violence. They have sown the wind, and they will reap the whirlwind. Dark deeds will not stay hidden forever. They are bubbling to the surface, and they will not be covered over this time. Darkness has covered the earth. Darkness has overshadowed the people. Darkness is even seeping and bubbling up from beneath their feet.
I Am pulling back the curtain on deeds done in darkness by darkened hearts and bloody hands. The things that have been done can no longer be covered over, can no longer be swept under the rug or hidden in a closet. The weight of these dark deeds has tipped the scale to the point of no return. Now to the wicked I say, I will pull the rug out from under you. The very rug I pull from under you will be what binds you and becomes your place of captivity.
14 Justice is turned back,
Isaiah 59:14-18
And righteousness stands far away;
For truth has stumbled in the street,
And uprightness cannot enter.
15 Yes, truth is lacking;
And he who turns aside from evil makes himself a prey.
Now the Lord saw,
And it was displeasing in His sight that there was no justice.
16 And He saw that there was no man,
And was astonished that there was no one to intercede;
Then His own arm brought salvation to Him,
And His righteousness upheld Him.
17 He put on righteousness like a breastplate,
And a helmet of salvation on His head;
And He put on garments of vengeance for clothing
And wrapped Himself with zeal as a mantle.
18 According to their deeds, so He will repay,
Wrath to His adversaries, recompense to His enemies;
To the coastlands He will make recompense.
Those who once roamed free, lawless, bloodthirsty, evil and remorseless; those who roamed free like lions seeking whom they may devour; those who plotted, rubbed the hands and licked their lips at the thought of blood and destruction — they will have a sudden reversal of circumstance. Where they were above the law and predators of the people, they will find themselves captured, exposed and abhorred. Their disgusting deeds will be put on display for all to see — a byword and a cautionary tale of what happens when wicked men and women hold the reigns of power.
19 So they will fear the name of the Lord from the west
Isaiah 59:19-21
And His glory from the rising of the sun,
For He will come like a rushing stream
Which the wind of the Lord drives.
20 “A Redeemer will come to Zion,
And to those who turn from transgression in Jacob,” declares the Lord.
21 “As for Me, this is My covenant with them,” says the Lord: “My Spirit which is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your offspring, nor from the mouth of your offspring’s offspring,” says the Lord, “from now and forever.”
Choose life. Choose light. Choose good. Choose right. Choose Me. If you are drawn by or attracted to the darkness, by an act of Your will back away. Cut bait and run. Flee the scene of darkness that has lured you in. Run back to Me. Run to the foot of the cross, where all can be absolved. Place yourself under the lordship and the blood of Jesus. This is urgent, and it is deadly serious. Flee from every kind of evil. Purify yourself — your heart, your hands, your mind and your mouth before Me. I Am about to do something so sudden, so powerful, so irreversible to those who have wickedly stood against the people and served themselves and their master, the devil. I will wrap them and confine them in the rug I pull out from under their feet. Everything they so confidently stand on will confine them, will imprison them. Get your house in order. You will want nothing out of place, you will want to be pure before Me when the suddenly happens.
How to Respond
- Sit with the Lord. Be vigilant about remaining pure of heart, mind, mouth and hands. Ask Him to show you any places that need cleansing, pruning and repentance.
- Pray, Lord thank You that You see the wicked. Thank You that the cries of the innocent have not gone unheard by You. Thank You for hearing our prayers for exposure and justice. Prepare our hearts for the shocking and terrible information that will be exposed. Thank You that You are the God of justice and mercy in perfect measure, and You are bringing justice on behalf of Your people and for Your Name’s sake.
- Declare, the Lord is bringing exposure, judgement and justice to the wicked ones who have ruled and reigned in the earth. He is coming in a sudden and shocking way, and He will wrap them up and imprison them with all on which they so confidently stand.
- Decree, I am a lover of the Lord, a lover of peace, truth, righteousness and justice. I stand on the side of the Lord. I walk in purity. I will see the goodness, the judgement, and the justice of the Lord in the land of the living.
