Today’s Reading:
Luke 2
John 14
James 1
Hebrews 3
“Don’t worry or surrender to your fear. For you’ve believed in God, now trust and believe in me also. My Father’s house has many dwelling places. If it were otherwise, I would tell you plainly, because I go to prepare a place for you.”
John 14:1-2 TPT
I heard the Spirit of the Living, patient God say,
Rest in Me. Be at ease in Me, in My Presence. Calm your spirit, and quiet your soul and just be with Me. You won’t win any awards in Heaven for always checking off your to-do list or for maximizing your doing. That’s not an accomplishment in My eyes. At some point productivity becomes its own accomplishment, and all the while you are running, you are missing out on valuable time and connection with Me. You are missing out on My perfect rest and My wisdom on how to take on your day, on how to see all of the pieces on your list.
Don’t just listen to the Word of Truth and not respond to it, for that is the essence of self-deception. So always let his Word become like poetry written and fulfilled by your life!
James (Jacob) 1:22 TPT
Yes, faith without works is dead. But works without rest is burnout, and works maximized can reveal a lack of faith. What does living in faith-works look like in your life right now? It looks like ruthlessly prioritizing and being super present and engaged in the things you have no doubt that I’ve called you to do. It looks like trusting that I will reward, that I see, that I will bless and prosper the work, the assignment, the people, the relationships, the tasks that I have called you to.
And so, dear brothers and sisters, you are now made holy, and each of you is invited to the feast of your heavenly calling. So fasten your thoughts fully onto Jesus, whom we embrace as our Apostle and King-Priest. For he was faithful to the Father who appointed him, in the same way that Moses was a model of faithfulness in what was entrusted to him.
Hebrews 3:1-2 TPT
Quit the hamster wheel works. Drop for now the work that will be a leech on your energy and mind, that will suck the life out the very things I have called you to do. Don’t be drawn off-course by a lack of faith that leads you into work. I will not prosper that. You will have to sustain it yourself. Prosperity and life more abundant comes from being in the center of the work, the assignment, the relationships, the service that I have called you into. Everything else is busy work. Everything else is a distraction. Faith-rest and faith-work looks like knowing what I’ve called you to do, ruthlessly prioritizing that and allowing the rest to fall by the wayside.
His parents were shocked to find him there, and Mary scolded him, saying, “Son, your father and I have searched for you everywhere! We have been worried sick over not finding you. Why would you do this to us?” Jesus said to them, “Why would you need to search for me? Didn’t you know that it was necessary for me to be here in my Father’s house, consumed with him?” Mary and Joseph didn’t fully understand what Jesus meant.
Luke 2:48-50 TPT
Don’t you know I’ll take care of you? Don’t you know I won’t let you drown? Be as Jesus — busy about your Father’s work. That also requires you to not be where other people think you need to be. That’s a fact. That the reality of it. Others may look and judge and believe you need to be doing something else, focusing somewhere else, speaking into something else. But where do I say you need to be? Who do I say you need to be with? And what do I say — what I have I seared on your heart as the undroppable assignments? That’s where you need to be, regardless of what others say, think or how they try to persuade you otherwise. The work I have for you comes with the promise and the shelter of My rest. Everything outside of that that I’ve not put in your hands or your heart is busywork. There’s no rest in it.
How to Respond
- Pray, Holy Spirit come speak to me. Show me beyond the shadow of a doubt what I am called and assigned to do in this season. Help me to see and let go of those things that don’t line up with Your priorities for me right now. I want to be in the right place, in the right time, with the right people doing the right work.
- Declare, A person may have many ideas concerning God’s plan for his life, but only the designs of God’s purpose will succeed in the end. — Proverbs 19:21 TPT
- Decree, I am moving forward to live the truth faith-rest life that the Lord provides. I am leaving behind the work that He has not called me to be doing right now, and I am ruthlessly prioritizing the people, assignments and messages He has for me in this time. The Lord will bless that which He has given me to do as I am faithfully doing it.
