I will take my stand at my watchpost and station myself on the tower, and look out to see what he will say to me, and what I will answer concerning my complaint. And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.”
Habakkuk 2:1-3 ESV
I heard the Spirit of the Living God of Truth say,
Walk in step with Me. I will lead you forward. Your times have felt murky and hard. Difficulty has been your portion. You have been in the midst of a swirl, and this swirl has caused a lack of clarity and low visibility. It has brought uncertainty and a lack of knowing what or where the next step is. You have worked and felt like the work has not produced the return you expected. It seems to have only produced a meager return, but the toil was so hard. The toil has been so hard as you have worked through the low visibility, through the competing voices and through winds of adversity. But I Am blowing a great peace on your situation. I Am saying to the winds and to the turmoil in your heart, to the racing of your mind, peace be still. And my new instruction is the same one you already know. It’s the same one it has always been, walk with Me.
…Woe to him who heaps up what is not his own— for how long?— and loads himself with pledges!
Habakkuk 2:6b ESV
Clear out all of the clutter, the chaos, the voices and the competition. Clear out the must-dos, the to-dos, the false obligations, and get into My Presence to know what this new chapter of walking with Me will look like and what it will require. I’m taking you back to the simple. I’m taking you back to a place of raw and real connection with Me, to a place of unpolluted, natural communion with Me, and that river of living water will flow from your belly again. The weights will fall off of your shoulders, and you will be able to clearly see and evaluate what you have taken on that is not yours to carry, that is not work I have called you to do, that is not part of the assignment. And when you unclog your days, your mind, your heart from all of those things that have been gumming up your time, sucking up your emotional energy and distracting you from the specific purpose and instruction I have placed in your heart, the machine of My grace can do its work. The machine of My grace can operate smoothly. You have to declutter the path for My grace. You have to focus on the priorities I have set in your heart.
yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places. To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments.
Habakkuk 3:18-19 ESV
This is a time of a great recalibration. It will feel as though you are shedding a lot of weights, a lot of baggage, a lot of responsibility, and it will feel hard. It will require some pain and discomfort. But the freedom on the other side, the grace on the other side, the ease and absolute peace on the other side will confirm that this was right. The weights and added responsibilities have stolen your joy, have weighed down your heart and your life. But this shedding process will cause you to feel the sun on your skin again, will cause you to smile reflexively and laugh easily again. This is a time of shedding. This is what is required into enter the new chapter of My powerful and active grace.
How to Respond
- Spend time in the Lord’s Presence. Ask Him to help you to reprioritize and recalibrate your life by ridding yourself of whatever is not serving the specific purpose He is calling you to in this time.
- Pray, Holy Spirit help me to be sensitive to Your promptings. I invite You. You are most welcome here. Do Your work of shining a light on all that I need to see. Help me to shed all of the extra responsibilities I have taken on that You have not called me to do. Help me to release all that I have been carrying that is not serving Your purposes in my life. I want to shed the extra weight and walk in freedom. I want to be available and make room for the new opportunities You have planned for me. Help me to clear the way for Your grace to move powerfully in my life.
- Declare, the Lord’s thoughts are higher than my thoughts and His ways are higher than my ways. His plans and purposes are perfect. I don’t need to add to them.
- Decree, I will prioritize my life by the Spirit. I will clear out, declutter, remove and shed every obligation and responsibility I have taken on that was taken on without the direction of the Lord. I will do the hard and even painful work of releasing these things from my hands, releasing their weight from my shoulders and removing the constant chatter of their operations from my mind and heart. I will choose to shed it all and walk with the Lord exclusively in the purposes to which He has called me. I will open the way for His grace to move freely and powerfully in my life.
