Today’s Reading:
Joshua 3-4

6 Let this be a sign among you, so that when your children ask later, saying, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’7 then you shall say to them, ‘Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; when it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off.’ So these stones shall become a memorial to the sons of Israel forever.”
8
Thus the sons of Israel did as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, just as the Lord spoke to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel; and they carried them over with them to the lodging place and put them down there. 9 Then Joshua set up twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan at the place where the feet of the priests who carried the ark of the covenant were standing, and they are there to this day.

Joshua 3:16-17

The Spirit of the Lord says,
This is the river of your crossing. You are in the midst of the river of your crossing. The past is gone, and you cannot return to it. Where you stand now is a miracle on dry land. We are crossing over into the land I have for you — the land of promise, of milk and honey. We are crossing into that land, but know that it is beset with giants. The wilderness days, the just enough days are behind us. The days of fruitfulness and abundance lie ahead. You are in the river of your crossing.

16 the waters which were flowing down from above stood and rose up in one heap, a great distance away at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan; and those which were flowing down toward the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. So the people crossed opposite Jericho. 17 And the priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan while all Israel crossed on dry ground, until all the nation had finished crossing the Jordan.

Joshua 4:6-9

You are in a miracle moment before many other miracle moments. The waters of the Jordan are standing in one heap as you cross on dry ground. This is a moment and a time that you will memorialize. You can’t see it now, but this is the time of the great crossing over, the final crossing over. As the waters rejoin when you arrive on the other side of the bank, you will know that something has changed. You will know there’s no going back. You can’t see it now. You can’t quite perceive it, but we are in the crossing over. The wilderness lies behind you, and the fortified walls of Jericho are ahead. But great exploits are also ahead. The taking down of giants is also ahead.

21 He said to the sons of Israel, “When your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, ‘What are these stones?’ 22 then you shall inform your children, saying, ‘Israel crossed this Jordan on dry ground.’ 23 For the Lord your God dried up the waters of the Jordan before you until you had crossed, just as the Lord your God had done to the Red Sea, which He dried up before us until we had crossed; 24 that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the Lord is mighty, so that you may fear the Lord your God forever.”

Joshua 4:21-24

The claiming and the reclaiming, the wholesale removal of giants and the great occupation is ahead. The repopulation in occupation is ahead. Glorious days of thunder are ahead. Glorious days of the clashing of titans is ahead. Glorious shaking in the heavenly realms is ahead. Stunning moments of awe and wonder are ahead. Days of the roar of My voice across the land are ahead. The wilderness is behind you now. The mountains and the fortified hill country are ahead. This is the time of the second great crossing.

How to Respond

  • Trust the Lord with all your mind, heart, soul and strength.
  • Pray, Holy Spirit thank You for guiding me, for surrounding me and for protecting me. Thank You for walking us through the river of our crossing. Help me to be bold and very courageous. Help me to not shrink back or give any room to fear. Help me to cross into the land of promise and never look back. Help me to take down giants and reclaim the land for Your Name’s sake, for Your people and for the future generations.
  • Declare, we are in the river of our crossing. The wilderness is behind and the promised land is before us. The Lord is guiding us through to this new place and this new way of being.
  • Decree, I will continue boldly across the river of my crossing. I will recognize and memorialize the miracle and the significance of the crossing over. I will strengthen myself in the Lord, follow His instruction and run with courage into the land of promise. I will take down giants, and I will reclaim, occupy and populate this land.
