Today’s Reading:
Numbers 14
Joshua 14

”and they spoke to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, saying, “The land which we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the Lord is pleased with us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us—a land which flows with milk and honey. Only do not rebel against the Lord; and do not fear the people of the land, for they will be our prey. Their protection has been removed from them, and the Lord is with us; do not fear them.”“

Numbers‬ ‭14‬:‭7‬-‭9‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

The Spirit of the Living God says,
Change is afoot. Big change is just a few steps in front of you. It will drop like a sudden boulder entering your path, but I have given you the grace to conquer it. I have given you the grace to have dominion over it. What used to trip you up, what would have stopped you dead in your tracks, leaving you stunned and stunted will now be seen as something very surmountable. What would have tripped you up for weeks can now be overcome, conquered and moved past in less than a day. You can even see now that it is My grace that permits the opportunity of these obstacles, because they have strengthened you, they have given you the ability to think differently, to problem solve and to be one who is not easily put upon, knocked on the back foot or flustered.

”Now behold, the Lord has let me live, just as He spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that the Lord spoke this word to Moses, when Israel walked in the wilderness; and now behold, I am eighty-five years old today. I am still as strong today as I was in the day Moses sent me; as my strength was then, so my strength is now, for war and for going out and coming in.“

Joshua‬ ‭14‬:‭10‬-‭11‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

I have permitted giant challenges to come your way to condition you for the road ahead. The conditioning has equipped you to advance much faster than others, to charge hills and scale walls that others will consider dead ends. I have trained you in the wilderness, so you can advance in the shaking. The wilderness has been a training ground and a place of great transformation. The wilderness has changed your thought patterns, has changed your muscle-to-fat ratio, has strengthened your mind, your body and your resolve so that you can conquer while enemies stumble and falter in the shaking. The wilderness training has made it so that the giants you face will be like bread for you. They will not impress you or strike fear in your heart. They will be very defeatable, conquerable obstacles. You will say to yourself, “I have conquered something similar to this before. Let’s take it on and advance to the hill country. Let’s get over it, so we can run on up ahead. The Lord has great things in store for us beyond this obstacle. We will not be held back or dismayed. We will run with the strength that the Lord has given us and take territory that our eyes have not even seen before — territory that belonged to our forefathers, our ancestors, territory that is our spiritual heritage. We will stake our claim.”

”Now then, give me this hill country about which the Lord spoke on that day, for you heard on that day that Anakim were there, with great fortified cities; perhaps the Lord will be with me, and I will drive them out as the Lord has spoken.” So Joshua blessed him and gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance. Therefore, Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite until this day, because he followed the Lord God of Israel fully. Now the name of Hebron was formerly Kiriath-arba; for Arba was the greatest man among the Anakim. Then the land had rest from war.“

Joshua‬ ‭14‬:‭12‬-‭15‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

The obstacles that you face in the days ahead will be ones for which you have trained and been equipped. You will rise to the challenge like battle-tested warriors, and you will not shrink back. You will not be dismayed. You will run to the challenge in bold confidence, full of faith, because you know that you have everything you need to conquer it and advance to the hill country.

How to Respond

  • Trust that the Lord’s training and equipping has given you everything you need to advance.
  • Pray, Lord help me to keep my eyes, my mind and my heart focused on You in the shaking, even as boulders and great challenges drop into my path. Call to mind the methods and tools I need to overcome these obstacles, so they take very little of my time. Help me to relish the challenge instead of shrinking back or getting frustrated or fearful. Help to approach each obstacle as a confident, battle-tested warrior.
  • Declare, My enemies will be like bread for me. No obstacle placed in my path will keep me from the destiny and the inheritance the Lord has for me. My help and my victory come from the Lord.
  • Decree, I will trust in the Lord my God. I know His equipping of me, His testing and strengthening of me in the wilderness has given me everything I need to advance in victory. I will not be delayed by obstacles and challenges. I will treat them as ongoing strength training that keeps me in shape for the journey ahead. I will advance to the hill country. I will see and take back the territory of my forefathers — my spiritual inheritance — that the enemy has stolen.
