Today’s Reading:
Psalm 16
Matthew 7
Matthew 6
13Enter through the narrow gate because the wide gate and broad path is the way that leads to destruction—nearly everyone chooses that crowded road! 14The narrow gate and the difficult way leads to eternal life—so few even find it!”
Matthew 7:13-14 TPT
The Spirit of the Living God says,
It’s time to narrow your affections. It’s time to hone your affections in a very narrow way. Wide is the path that seems right to men but leads straight to hell. Narrow is the way that leads to life everlasting. Narrow your affections. Sharpen your focus, and set your heart’s affections and your intent gaze on Me. I Am the way, the truth and the life. Don’t know which way to turn? I Am the way. Don’t know what to believe? I Am the truth. Don’t know how to live or conduct yourself? I Am the life. In Me is fullness of joy and at My right hand are pleasures forevermore.
‘Because of you, I know the path of life, as I taste the fullness of joy in your presence. At your right side I experience divine pleasures forevermore!’
Psalms 16:11 TPT
It’s time to narrow your affections. It’s time to shave off all of those auxiliary affections, those adjacent affections, those potpourri affections that do not serve Me and My Kingdom. They also don’t serve your heart. This is about your heart. This is about your whole-hearted affection. I’m not a part-time God. I don’t want your part-time love. I want all of you. I want your love for Me to consume you and cause you to focus your gaze and your heart’s affections very narrowly on Me. You will find that’s the very place — that extremely narrow place — is where life more abundant blooms wild, where all of the other things WILL BE added unto you. The other things that are worthy and good and desirable are fruit that grows abundantly and wildly in the narrow place. It you are out in pursuit of these other things, you may end up with one or two in your hand, but your heart is empty and the light of your life is hollow and filled with shadows. If you pursue the narrow way, the very extremely, narrowly tight corridor way, you will find the most spacious life of which you ever dreamed that far exceeds your most outlandish imaginations.
‘“So above all, constantly seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness, then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.’
Matthew 6:33 TPT
The life of abundance, fullness, wholeness and big-hearted faith living is found in the laser-focused ultra-narrow way. You will be amazed how I make the narrow way into a spacious place for you. You will be amazed at how wildly and unexpectedly delights and fruits and dreams blossom in this tightly narrow way. It is for you, and it is for My glory. This is the narrow corridor that only my lovers choose. Choose this track, choose this tightly narrow way, and nothing will be impossible for you. This is life in the Spirit. This is life on the narrow way. It’s wild. It’s adventure. It’s free.
How to Respond
- Stir up your affection for the Lord. Ask Him to show you what affections you need to get rid of, so you can give Him your full heart. Ask Him for the grace to do it.
- Pray, Lord, You are amazing. You are worthy of all glory, honor and praise. You are the King of kings and the Lord of all. How can I not worship You? You set the stars in the sky and You know them all by name. You are worthy of all my affection, attention, obedience and devotion. Thank You that You have made a way for me, a path for me to Your heart and to life more abundant. All I ever need or want or dream can be found in You.
- Declare, The Lord God Almighty is worthy of all glory, honor and praise. He is worthy of all my affection, my devotion and my trust. He is the faithful King.
- Decree, I will set my wholehearted affection on the Lord God Most High. I will narrowly focus my gaze and my affections on King Jesus. No other path is interesting to me. The only path for me is the one that leads to my King’s heart. Nothing else will do. I long to dwell in the courts of the Lord forever. Better is one day in His courts than a thousand elsewhere.
