Today’s Readings:
Luke 22
John 17
Acts 2

36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ—this Jesus whom you crucified.” 37 Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brethren, what shall we do?” 38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.”

Acts 2:36-39

The Lord says,
You underestimate the power of the Name of Jesus. Don’t underestimate the power of the Name of Jesus. Don’t underestimate the power of Holy Spirit inside of you. It’s the same power that raised Christ Jesus from the grave. It’s the same power that left an empty tomb in its wake.

17 Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth. 18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 For their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth. 20 “I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; 21 that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.

John 17:17-21

I have equipped you with the very power of God. I have equipped you with My power. I have permanently installed My power, My death defying, life-giving power inside you; yet it lies dormant.

Communion is the key to accessing the power I have placed inside you. Commune with Me. Come, sit, dwell with Me. Get to know My heart. But also take Communion. It is an act of remembrance, of honor, of worship and of covenantal love.

42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. 44 And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common;

Acts 2:42-44

I have placed the key to accessing My power in communion with Me in the Spirit and the act of taking Communion — as a way to honor Me, as a way to honor Christ’s finished work and ultimate sacrifice, as a way to set you apart, and as a way to renew and acknowledge the covenant made in His blood. Receiving Communion is an act of honor, and it activates My power inside of you. Communion is intimacy with Me. It is like turning the key in the ignition of passion and power when you commune with Me, when you honor and reverence Me — when you acknowledge the final and complete sacrifice made by Jesus on the cross, the rolling back of the stone from the tomb and the rolling back of the power of death over Himself and all of humanity forever. Communion with Me joined with taking Communion as an act of honoring Me and of reverential, covenantal love for Me is the key to accessing My power inside of you.

How to Respond

  • Purify yourself before the Lord. Live a lifestyle of ongoing sanctification.
  • Spend time with the Lord. Commune with Him and prioritize daily the act of taking Communion in acknowledgement of Jesus’s overcoming sacrifice, the offering of His life for ours, and the covenant He made with us in His own blood.
  • Pray, Lord I have fallen short of honoring You as I should. I have fallen short of giving You the reverence and the respect that You deserve. I have not honored Jesus and His sacrifice which marked the final sacrifice needed for my redemption and which marked the new covenant that I am the beneficiary of — with You through Him. Help me to see how to live in holy reverence of You, how to live in ongoing communion with You and how to daily honor the sacrifice and the covenant made. Lord, thank You for showing Me that communion with You is the key to accessing and igniting Your passion and power that lives within me.
  • Declare, communion with the Lord in spirit and the act of taking Communion are the keys that ignite the power of Holy Spirit inside of me — that’s the resurrection power of Jesus, that’s power like we have not seen in our generation.
  • Decree, I will not underestimate the power of the Name of Jesus or the power of Holy Spirit who lives inside of me. I will carve out time with the Lord, to commune with Him and to learn His heart and His ways. I will take Communion as often as I can — in reverence, in remembrance, in honor of the final and complete sacrifice Jesus made and in acknowledgment and thanksgiving of the new covenant He made for me in His blood.
