Today’s Reading:
Psalm 119:113-144
“Let me hear your promise of blessing over my life, breaking me free from the proud oppressors. As a lovesick lover, I yearn for more of your salvation and for your virtuous promises. Let me feel your tender love, for I am yours. Give me more understanding of your wonderful ways. I need more revelation from your Word to know more about you, for I’m in love with you!”
Psalms 119:122-125 TPT
The Spirit of the Lord says,
Trust and obey. Let your trust follow your love. Stir yourself up with affection for Me. Stir up your love for Me, and let that love lead you into trust. Pursue an understanding of my character and My ways. You will find that I Am absolutely good, that I Am absolutely for you, that I knit you together in your mother’s womb, and that you are My dearly loved one, conceived in My mind and heart before time began. When you can begin to scratch the surface of who I Am, you will begin to live in deep abiding love. When you pursue My face you will find My heart. When you know My heart, you can let go and trust.
“Lord, strengthen my inner being by the promises of your Word so that I may live faithful and unashamed for you. Lift me up and I will be safe. Empower me to live every moment in the light of your ways.”
Psalms 119:116-117 TPT
At first it may require disciplining your mind, taking every thought captive and making it bow to the reality of Jesus. But trust shouldn’t be such hard work long-term. At some point, your trust should be childlike and effortless. You should be able to let go, because you know that I have never left you nor forsaken you. You may have to discipline your mind until your mind follows your heart. True, deep, unshakable love is healthy soil for trust to grow. Your willful self-discipline and your choosing trust in the beginning is like anchoring a support for a young tree. It gives it the strength it needs to thrive and grow and produce — to not be tossed and broken by the wind. Eventually, the purposed support can be taken away, and the tree will be strong enough to simply thrive. That is a picture of what building toward trust in Me looks like.
“Your marvelous words are living miracles; no wonder I long to obey everything you say. Break open your Word within me until revelation-light shines out! Those with open hearts are given insight into your plans. I open my mouth and inhale the Word of God because I crave the revelation of your commands. Turn your heart to me, Lord, and show me your grace like you do to every one of your godly lovers. Prepare before me a path filled with your promises, and don’t allow even one sin to have dominion over me.”
Psalms 119:129-133 TPT
Trust is the hallmark of any healthy relationship. It makes for good mental health and good heart health to trust trustworthy ones. I Am absolutely trustworthy and absolutely good. I have not failed you yet. I never lie and I never lose. Allow your love for Me to be the fertile ground for trust. Do your part to put the supports in place through disciplining your mind, so that you can live carefree in My Presence. Do the foundational work, so you can live in secure, unmanufactured, easy trust in Me. That way, when I instruct you, obedience will be second nature. It will be the most natural thing in the world. It won’t require hand wringing and quadruple confirmation, tear-filled prayers. It will be an instant Yes Lord —because You know Me, because you know My character, My plans and purposes are good. Cultivate trust, and easy obedience will be the fruit. Joy will be the fruit. A light heart and and a great expectation of good in your life will be the fruit. Work on your trust. Stir up your love. It will pay dividends. Life will be so much more fun.
How to Respond
- Stir up your love for the Lord.
- Purpose to discipline your mind to trust Him by taking every thought captive and making it obey Christ — by making it bow to what He says is true.
- Decree, I am one who loves the Lord. I will trust in Him. I will do the work now so that I can live a life of easy and carefree trust in Him — in His goodness, His character and His purposes for me. I will build and cultivate trust, so that my obedience can be more ready. These are keys to a joy-filled, light-filled, fun-filled life of adventure with Jesus.
