Today’s Reading:
Amos 9
7 “Are you not as the sons of Ethiopia to Me,
Amos 9:7-8
O sons of Israel?” declares the Lord.
“Have I not brought up Israel from the land of Egypt,
And the Philistines from Caphtor and the Arameans from Kir?
8 “Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are on the sinful kingdom,
And I will destroy it from the face of the earth;
Nevertheless, I will not totally destroy the house of Jacob,”
Declares the Lord.
The Spirit of the Lord says,
Changes. Big changes. Massive sea changes. Change is here, and like waves crashing on the shore, more change is coming. Expect change, changes and more change. Expect wave after wave of change in sometimes steady, sometimes unpredictable succession. In this season, the only thing you can expect and anticipate is change. What was established fact will change. What was called conspiracy theory will be exposed as truth. Motives and hidden agendas will be drug out into broad daylight. Skeletons will come out of closets. Revered ones will have sharp, sharp falls from grace like plummets from the high dive. Those who appear to be in charge will be revealed as puppets. Those with the loudest mouths and the greatest amplified voices will be found to be as hollow as toys.
9 “For behold, I am commanding,
Amos 9:9-12
And I will shake the house of Israel among all nations
As grain is shaken in a sieve,
But not a kernel will fall to the ground.
10 “All the sinners of My people will die by the sword,
Those who say, ‘The calamity will not overtake or confront us.’
11 “In that day I will raise up the fallen booth of David,
And wall up its breaches; I will also raise up its ruins
And rebuild it as in the days of old;
12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom
And all the nations who are called by My name,”
Declares the Lord who does this.
Change is incoming, and change is here. Wave after wave will come in powerful, earth shaking succession. Teeth will rattle at the revelations. Hearts will sink at the revelations. Fury will pour out at the revelations. And millions upon millions upon millions will call upon My Name, and they shall be saved. In this time of shaking, in this time of an enormous revealing and unraveling of evil — men and women, boys and girls will be drawn to the Rock and Firm Foundation. They will be drawn to the unchanging One in whom there is no shifting shadow. They will be drawn to the Way, the Truth and the Life, to the King of kings, the Lord of lords, to their Redeemer and their God.
13 “Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord,
Amos 9:13-15
“When the plowman will overtake the reaper
And the treader of grapes him who sows seed;
When the mountains will drip sweet wine
And all the hills will be dissolved.
14 “Also I will restore the captivity of My people Israel,
And they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them;
They will also plant vineyards and drink their wine,
And make gardens and eat their fruit.
15 “I will also plant them on their land,
And they will not again be rooted out from their land
Which I have given them,”
Says the Lord your God.
The shaking, the unraveling, the pummeling of change is to sift people’s minds of the garbage, is to loose people’s souls from the lies, and is to point them to the only essential truth, Jesus. Everything that can be shaken will be shaken. But truth will remain, and the people will sing that old hymn, there’s power in the blood, because they will know that the blood of Jesus has saved them.
How to Respond
- Pray, Lord, thank You for being the unchanging One, our tower of refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble. Thank You for this time of shaking, so that the scales will fall off of deceived eyes and unplug deceived ears and unlock deceived minds. Lord, we need You and we need truth. Thank You that You are truth, and that Your Spirit guides us into all truth. Give us the wisdom and courage, the grace and compassion we need for this time. We can’t wait to see the harvest of the many, many, many who turn to You.
- Declare, the Earth is the Lord’s and the fullness therein. The Lord will shake everything that can be shaken in order to wake up the people, dismantle evil and restore truth to its rightful place.
- Decree, the truth will set men and women, boys and girls free. Where the Spirit of the Lord reigns, there is freedom. I will not be shaken in the shaking, because the Lord is my rock and firm foundation. I will see evil exposed and dismantled. I will see lies exposed and fall to the ground as ash. I will see Truth restored as the essential cornerstone of society.
