Today’s Reading:
Luke 6
Ephesians 4
35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
Luke 6:35-36
The Spirit of the Lord says,
The work of forgiveness is key. The work of forgiveness unlocks the door of your heart and allows My grace, My love and My favor to move into and out of you freely. Unforgiveness locks up the door to Your heart, and bitterness builds a fortress around it. Forgiveness is key. Forgiveness is the key, and it unlocks the door of your heart so I can access it, and so love can flow freely in and freely forth.
30 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.32 Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:30-32
Did you know that you can forgive entities? Companies? Groups and individuals? Anything that can grab your heart, lock it up and put a wall of bitterness around it must be the object of your unwitheld, freely given forgiveness. Remind yourself and feel free to remind Me that justice is Mine; but forgiveness is your act of total unwavering obedience. It’s an act of sacrificial love for Christ, because He forgave you freely, fully, wholly and without reservation. He holds nothing against you. Let you not be one who holds people, institutions or any other force hostage with your unforgiveness. Unforgiveness that you hold actually holds your heart and your life hostage, and it causes a great stagnation in your life, because the flow of love, the flow of freedom, the flow of Holy Spirit gets stifled. Forgive fully, freely and without reservation. Immense freedom is found in forgiveness. It doesn’t change the facts, and it doesn’t make the object of your angst any less liable for wrongdoing. But it restores the flow of love, of grace and of Holy Spirit in your heart and life. It unlocks your heart and tears down that iron wall called bitterness.
37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.”
Luke 6:37-38
Forgiveness puts the onus on Me to bring justice. I Am faithful, and I will do it. I Am the God of recompense, and this is the year of My favor. So why shouldn’t you let go? Why shouldn’t you release them from that angry grip and go on in peace, in love and in good deeds? I have work for you to do, and I have work I want to do in you and through you. Open the locked door of your heart, and I will restore the flow of love, life, grace and freedom. I will restore the flow and the power of Holy Spirit in your life. Forgiveness equals freedom. Forgiveness equals freedom. Forgiveness equals freedom.
How to Respond
- Pray, Lord, thank You for the gift of forgiveness. Thank You for forgiving me and for giving me the grace and instruction to forgive others. Highlight for me any person, people group, company, institution, church, entity, even situation or circumstance that I need to forgive. Show me how to let go of the anger and the bitterness. Help me to forgive each one as an act of my will and an act of obedience to Christ. I desire to regain freedom in my life. Help me to forgive — to unlock the door of my heart and tear down the iron wall of bitterness that unforgiveness has built around it. I want the free flow of love, grace, peace and Holy Spirit to begin afresh in my life.
- Declare, forgiveness unlocks freedom.
- Decree, I will lay down every ounce of unforgiveness I am carrying. I choose to forgive each one, and I call on the Lord for His justice. I will walk in freedom. I will live with an unlocked heart that is open for the free flow of love, grace, life, favor and the Spirit of the Lord.
