Today’s Readings:
Isaiah 12
Psalm 30
Joshua 24:14-24
14 “Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Joshua 24:14-15
The Lord says,
Cast off the things that are holding you back. Cast off the things that are causing hesitation, doubt and lingering in past hurts or failures. Cast these off. As you cast them off, feel the freedom that you experience and dance for joy. Celebrate! Celebrate the letting go. Celebrate the cutting of ties with these old restraints. It is time to move freely. It’s time to dance. It’s time to have the freedom to run, to leap, to praise Me without restrictions in your heart. It’s time to dance.
11 Then he broke through and transformed all my wailing
Psalm 30:11-12
into a whirling dance of ecstatic praise!
He has torn the veil and lifted from me
the sad heaviness of mourning.
He wrapped me in the glory-garments of gladness.
12 How could I be silent when it’s time to praise you?
Now my heart sings out, bursting with joy—
a bliss inside that keeps me singing,
“I can never thank you enough!”
As you let go, be open. The celebratory spirit and the freedom will hit you like a rushing wind that knocks you back a few inches and breathes new life into you. There is much celebrating to do as you cut off ties to the old things, the old ideas, old mindsets, old hang-ups and old habits, even people and unhelpful memories that have been holding you back. Cut those ties. Cut them once and for all, and come dance in celebration with Me for the freedom that you have found. For the freedom I have purchased for you is now here.
It will feel counterintuitive and even wrong to let your heart be light and to dance with the way the world looks around you. Don’t focus on what you see. Focus on the freedom in your spirit, in your heart and the freedom in the atmosphere that surrounds you. You are no longer being choked by the rehearsing of bad moments, by regret, by negative relationships, by negative thought patterns and misunderstandings. There is much to celebrate, and freedom is cause for much celebration. Fight the impression that you must stand or sit and be solemn. Forget that nonsense. Dance! The occasion calls for it. Freedom calls you to dance.
2 Behold—God is my salvation!
Isaiah 12:2
I am confident, unafraid, and I will trust in you.”
Yes! The Lord Yah is my might and my melody;
he has become my salvation!
Dance with abandon and care not what those around you think. Dance like King David, and worship and rejoice openly. Why should you care what man thinks? Freedom is much greater than his small thoughts toward you, if he has any thoughts toward you at all. This is about you and your family; this is about Me and freedom. So dance alone, dance together, dance with Me. But dance!
Don’t withhold celebration in the day it is called for. Celebration and thanksgiving is an act of worship and a right response to what I Am releasing for you in this hour.
How to Respond
- Cut the ties that are holding you back from advancing and dancing – bad habits, wrong thinking, unholy mindsets, negative relationships, gossip, regret.
- Embrace the freedom that comes with letting go of these.
- Choose to dance and celebrate.
- Praise the Lord for the freedom He has brought and for the strategy He has given you to obtain it.
- Declare that we are in freedom days.
- Declare that freedom and celebration are here, and they are vital in this time.
- Find new ways to celebrate. Choose not to care what others think. Remind yourself that they are probably more focused on themselves than what you are doing anyway.
