Today’s Reading:
Joshua 1

1 Now it came about after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ servant, saying, 2 “Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise, cross this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel. 3 Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon, even as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and as far as the Great Sea toward the setting of the sun will be your territory.

Joshua 1:1-4

The Spirit of the Lord says,
I Am the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the One who was, who is and who is to come. I Am the Forever Ruler, the God of Angel Armies, Creator of Heaven and Earth, the Ancient of Days. It’s time to dance. It’s time to worship with abandon. It’s time to sing your heart out. It’s time to move in the joy of the Lord. It’s time to move to the sound of My voice, to the beat of My drum. It’s time to move. Just as I told Joshua and the Israelites, it’s time to move on from here. It’s time to move. The promised land awaits. Change awaits. Blessing awaits, and new giants and new land to conquer awaits. You have learned what you needed to learn in the wilderness. You have lived in dry times, in lean times, in bleak times and in silent times. But it’s time to move on with all joy. It’s time to dance to the song I have placed in your heart. It’s time to move with purpose. Though you know not where you are going, it’s time to pick up your tent stakes, pack up your things and move on from this place.

5 No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you. 6 Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go.

Joshua 1:5-7

We ride at dawn. We are moving up into that hill country, the beautiful land. I Am calling you to conquer, to possess and to occupy. I Am calling you to ownership and stewardship. I Am calling you to more — more work, more sacrifice, more responsibility and more and greater reward. These days, this move is not without sacrifice, is not without effort and pain. But the reward will be the greatest you have known, and yet greater rewards lie ahead still. We are entering the promised land — but only if you obey My voice, only if you pick up your tent pegs, gather your belongings and move on from this place. The days ahead are ones of conquering, of fighting and winning. Remember that once you move toward the fight with the intent in your heart to conquer, I and My angel armies will go before you, will surround you and will back you up. These battles are not for you to fight on your own. You will see glorious victories because of My Presence and My work on your behalf.

8 This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:8-9

Yes, it’s time to move on from this place. It’s time to trust Me. Trust your legs to carry you, and trust the unknown road before you. We are moving into different territory, different terrain, different work and different days. Trusting and obeying My voice will be vital. Being filled up with faith, with love, with vision and worship, being filled up with bursting passion for the Lord Your God will be critical. Trusting what you have heard in your heart and in your private communion with Me will be vital, because people will say that you are crazy. But you will know that I have said, go up from this place. It’s time to move and take the hill country.

How to Respond

  • Stand firm in what you have heard from the Lord. Do not be swayed by the opinions of others.
  • Trust and obey the voice of the Lord. He is with you, and He is for you.
  • Pray, Holy Spirit come. Give me wisdom, direction and understanding. Show me what to do when You say move. Help me to move with quick decisive obedience at the sound of Your voice and at the prompting of Your Spirit.
  • Declare, Holy Spirit is calling us out of the wilderness into the beautiful land. He is telling us it’s time to move on from the holding pattern, and it is now time to conquer, to win and to occupy. He’s calling us to leave this place behind and move into the unknown.
  • Decree, I will obey the voice and the prompting of the Lord my God. I will dance, sing, worship and live with abandon. I will move at the sound of His voice. I will taste and see that He is good and that His mercy endures forever. I will trust the Lord with my life, my future, my family, my finances and my legacy.
