Joshua Chapters 3-6

These chapters speak to us today – as members of a Royal Priesthood in the Body of Christ. That as we stand firm and carry the New Covenant made with Jesus’s blood, He will give us safe passage through the troubled waters that are overflowing their banks and lead us into the Promised Land. There were a few things that happened between the time the Israelites crossed out of the wilderness over the Jordan River and the time they entered the Promised Land.

  • First, all of the tribes made a memorial to commemorate the miracle that the Lord did for them by stopping the waters of the Jordan, so they could safely get to the other side.
  • Second, the sons of Israel were circumcised – which for us today would signify humbling ourselves before the Lord, repenting of any sin and consecrating our hearts to Him.
  • Third, they celebrated the Passover – which is a remembrance of the deliverance of the Lord out of slavery in Egypt.
  • Fourth, they ate of the food of the Promised Land, which signified the beginning of the new era of entering into the blessing and fulfilled promise of the Lord and occupying it.
  • Fifth, Joshua had a holy encounter with the Captain of the Host of the Lord immediately before the Lord gave him a strategy to capture Jericho – meaning he submitted Himself to the messenger of the Lord and then the Lord gave Him supernatural wisdom and strategy to take take hold of the promise.
  • Sixth, Israel marched around Jericho for seven days in silence except for trumpeters (worshipers) – in obedience, unity and faith.
  • And Seventh, the Lord took down the wall and the Israelites charged in to destroy the enemy and occupy the territory that the Lord had given them.

Notice that three out of the seven were markers for remembrance of what the Lord has done and who the Israelites are in Him.

All seven required action.

Eating the food of the Promised Land was a physical agreement with their spiritual promise.

Three out of the seven required faith that the Lord was who He said He was and would do what He said He would do (circumcision, the holy encounter, marching around Jericho).

Four of the seven required humility (building a memorial, circumcision, bowing before the captain of the Host of the Lord and marching around Jericho).

Two required celebration (Passover and eating the food of the Promised Land).

These chapters also point out characteristics and practices that the Lord requires in His overcomers: thanksgiving, humility, repentance and consecration, celebrating His faithfulness, submitting to His messengers, seeking Him for wisdom, agreeing with His promises, taking action, having faith in the character, person and follow through of the Lord, and obedience.

Joshua 3:17 - And the priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan while all Israel crossed on dry ground, until all the nation had finished crossing the Jordan.

The Lord says,
Today you are the priests standing in the middle of the Jordan holding the covenant – exalting the covenant above yourselves, your desires, your minds, your rights. This explains why everything feels so heavy. This explains the stress and the fatigue. This explains why you are all looking out at the horizon waiting for a sign that the Lord is moving.

But I say, My priests, standing in unity in the middle of the dry place that once ran with flowing water. This is a sign. Is it not a sign? I know your arms are weary and your back is tired. Your legs are weak and your feet are sore. But stay with Me. Wait for Me. Just a little while longer. Soon I will move you from this dry place. I will overtake the dry place with the rushing move of My Spirit that overflows its boundaries, and it will be this way during all the days of the harvest. (Joshua 3:15) Yes, I say to you, you are leaving this this dry place, and you will build a memorial. You will remember. I say you will never forget the days of this dry place. But joy will come when the flow of My Spirit comes rushing in like a flood.

Deep Wells of Peace

The Lord says,
Peace. I want My people to learn peace in the midst of chaos, in the midst of the storm. I want them to dig deep and hit the wells of My peace. I want them to learn the ways of sustainability. How can you sustain in the storm? How can you sustain in the storm without denying that the storm exists? Dig deep in to the wells of My peace. They are found in the secret place and can be carried into the chaos. The chaos will not overtake My peace. The peace that you find in the depths of Me.

You find this peace in seeking My face, seeking My heart, searching My word and worship. These are all access points, keys to the deep deep wells of My peace. They are here for you. They are always accessible. But you must reach for them, you must run to them, you must thirst for them, and you must seek them. You can carry them within you.

This is my gift to you. (John 14:27)

Tent of Meeting

The Lord says,
I Am setting up a tent. I Am driving tent pegs into the ground and shaking out the canvas of My tent. My Revival tent knows no limits. It can fit the world. My tent of meeting. This is the place where I will meet many.

I am setting up My tent for many meetings. I have many meetings, many appointments. And I will keep them. I have scheduled these appointments, but the people are not on My schedule. They don’t have visibility into My schedule. So they will be very surprised to meet Me. But meet Me they will.

I will have many pop-up tent meetings with people who are not expecting Me. It’s going to be so much fun. It’s going to be so filled with tears of laughter, tears of joy, tears of healing the deep deep places of hurt and longing. I am coming to meet unacknowledged desire for Me. I Am the desire of nations, yet they don’t know what they desire. I am coming to meet them. I Am coming to keep my appointments in California. Watch California. It will raise eyebrows.

The heavy weight of My Spirit is coming for California. And the peace, My peace will reflect that I have made it a holy place. I have made it holy ground. And the people of California will bow. They will humble themselves under the Mighty Hand of God. They will weep like children, they will dance in celebration. And the world will look on in wonder. California is the place where the dam of My spirit breaks forth and sweeps the nation – and the world.

Joy. I am planting seeds of joy into unsuspecting hearts. And they will blossom and bloom. And the world won’t know what to make of them.

How to Respond

  • Declare the mighty undeniable arrival and outpouring of the Spirit of the Lord.
  • Declare breakthrough.
  • Declare the end to the dry season of waiting.
  • Declare revival.
  • Declare answered prayer, promises fulfilled.
  • Visit the deep wells of My peace and commune there.
  • Take My peace with you, learn to carry it and impart it.
  • Watch California with great expectation. And pray for the breaking of the dam – for the unleashing of My Spirit on the whole land, on the whole world.
