Today’s Readings:
2 Peter 1
Proverbs 25
2 Corinthians 10
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; 3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 4 For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.5 Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, 6 and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness,7 and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins.
2 Peter 1:2-9
The Lord says,
Don’t give the enemy ground with your words. This is a time to be very measured and extremely thoughtful about what you say. Words have power. Don’t speak with mindless chatter, and undercut the advances you have made in the spirit. Speak peace and quiet over yourself. Say, “peace be still” when the urge strikes to let your mouth run away.
Silence and speaking are war strategies. This is a time to speak only what you hear Me say. Give the enemy no foothold. Gossip, complaining and speaking death through criticism — these have no place. They weaken your position, because they give the enemy a point of entry into your life and mind. Instead, repent for saying too much, for talking too much, for tearing others down with your words. Choose to only speak life. Guard your lips purposefully. Guard your mind as well. Think only on that which is worthy, lovely, beautiful. Let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouth. This is a war strategy, and this is a life strategy. Speak only life, and watch as I bring the victory.
28 Like a city that is broken into and without walls
Proverbs 25:28
Is a man who has no control over his spirit.
Speaking only life from a disciplined mind frees you up to hear My voice and to respond accordingly. This strategy is clearing the chatter in the lines of communication, so that you can tune in closely to your Commander’s voice. Let it be said that you are one who listens. Let it be said that your words are like apples of gold in settings of silver. Let it be said that you are a hearer and a doer of the word.
Don’t talk too much. Constant chatter can be a torment to yourself, because it shows you have lost control of your tongue and your mind. Bridle them both. Regain control of both. Wartime requires self-discipline. Keep your mind under watch and your lips as well. Take every thought captive, and make it obedient to Christ. That is the measure.
For though we walk in the world, we do not fight according to this world’s rules of warfare. 4 The weapons of the war we’re fighting are not of this world but are powered by God and effective at tearing down the strongholds erected against His truth. 5 We are demolishing arguments and ideas, every high-and-mighty philosophy that pits itself against the knowledge of the one true God. We are taking prisoners of every thought, every emotion, and subduing them into obedience to the Anointed One.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5
Limit your intake of chatter as well. Refine and choose wisely who you allow to speak into your life and your home — media-wise and people-wise. Coarse jokes, mindless sitcoms that have loose morals and make fun of the institution of family, that make a mockery of what is right — give them no place in your home. Doomsday media that lies and calls what is wrong right and what is right wrong — give them no place, no airtime, no entry into your home.
Seek wisdom in who you listen to. Choose those who speak life, those who speak truth, those who operate in and promote My values and those who exalt My Name. The stakes are too high and the battle too hot for you to allow the enemy unfettered access to your territory through social media, the news, or worthless sitcoms that promote anti-Christ values. We are at war. Operate accordingly.
10 Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble;11 for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you.
2 Peter 1:10-11
Discipline yourself, your mind, your home, your mouth. Shut tight the doors of entry and guard closely who and what is allowed access, who is allowed to speak into your life, your family, your home. It’s time to give up those lackadaisical, permissive and frankly lazy ways. It’s time to be disciplined in what you listen to, watch and allow entry into your home; because what you allow in is what is coming out. How can you discipline your mind and your own mouth if you are filling them with toxic poison? Be merciless in throwing out all that not adding value, virtue, life, wisdom and joy. This is not about a list of cans and cannots. It’s about positioning yourself and your family for victory.
How to Respond
- Get quiet with the Lord. Ask Him to highlight programs, shows, apps, books, news sources and people that need to be removed from your daily life, so you can be positioned for victory.
- Ask the Lord to help you discipline your mind and mouth. Ask Him for a strategy.
- Pray, Lord, thank You for giving me all I need pertaining to life and godliness. Help me to conduct my life with purpose and walk in excellence, so that I can be a beautiful reflection and witness of You. Help me to live a life of self-discipline, so I don’t undermine the victory that You have prepared for me.
- Declare, I will silence and disallow every negative, chattering, lying voice that has had entry into my home and life. I will speak only life and truth; and I will dwell on beautiful things.
- Decree, the Lord’s strategy for victory is a winning strategy. I will silence the voice of the enemy in my life and home, and he will have no entry. The only sounds the enemy will hear from me are sounds of worship, praise, thanksgiving, declarations of truth from the authority given to me by Christ Jesus, and shouts of triumph. These sounds will torment the enemy and cause him enemy to flee.
