Luke 15:11-32
Psalm 25
Psalm 27

8 When You said, “Seek My face,” my heart said to You,
“Your face, O Lord, I shall seek.”
9 Do not hide Your face from me,
Do not turn Your servant away in anger;
You have been my help;
Do not abandon me nor forsake me,
O God of my salvation!

Psalm 27:8-9

The Lord says,
Quiet yourself and listen. Find silence, and seek My Presence. As certain as the dawn, so surely you will find joy when You seek My face, when you seek Me in the quiet place, in the silence. I have never, nor will I ever leave you or forsake you. I Am here.

Reach out your hand toward Mine. Turn your face toward Me. I Am already here with My arm outstretched, ready to pull you in close. My love and protection are here waiting for you. Just turn around and extend your arm toward Me. Lift up your face, and look Me in the eyes. I Am here full of love and longing, full of grace and mercy, full of restoration, transformation, forgiveness and destiny just for you. Turn toward Me and seek My face.

Make Me your greatest desire. Shut off the other inputs, the chatter, the noise, the incessant sound of swirl and discontent. Get quiet, and seek My face. It won’t take long for you to find Me, because I Am already here. No matter how far you feel you’ve traveled from Me, no matter what distances you have wandered from My embrace, just find the silence and I will be there. I Am already there, here, waiting for you.

17 But when he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired men have more than enough bread, but I am dying here with hunger! 18 I will get up and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight; 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me as one of your hired men.”’ 20 So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. 21 And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ 22 But the father said to his slaves, ‘Quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet; 23 and bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat and celebrate;24 for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.’ And they began to celebrate.

Luke 15:17-24

Your return doesn’t need to be some hand wringing, dramatic thing. It doesn’t have to be the existential crisis you have made it out to be in your mind. You are a child of the Most High King. All you are doing is returning home, to your home and your birthright. It’s here for you, and the door is wide open. The comforts of home and the ecstatic welcome of the One who loves you is here. Are you still concerned about your street cred? Are you still concerned about how intellectual you are thought to be by those loud mouthed peers? Let me tell you what, My Hand is outstretched to them too. And you know what doesn’t matter for your destiny? Their opinion of you.

12 Who is the man who fears the Lord?
He will instruct him in the way he should choose.
13 His soul will abide in prosperity,
And his descendants will inherit the land.

Psalm 25:12-13

Walk to word Me in courage, and I will help you to shake off the people pleasing. I will help you shake off the concern for your reputation. As you move close to Me, as you lean in to Me, as you stir up your desire for Me, their voices and opinions will fade away in importance. And soon you will look up and wonder how you ever bothered to care what they thought. You will wonder how you allowed them to speak into your life. Compared to me, all men are fools. Seek Me. Seek My wisdom, and you will receive strategies and insight that confounds them all.

27 The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the defense of my life;
Whom shall I dread?

Psalm 27:1

This is about your heart, your peace, your life, your destiny. This is about your relationship with the Lord God Most High, Your Savior and Creator. Whom or what shall you exalt above Me? Whom or what shall you be concerned about next to Me? And whom or what shall you fear?

I will take care of all that concerns you. I always have, and I always will. So get away, even if only for a few moments; and seek Me in the silence. Quiet your heart, your racing thoughts and turn your mind and attention, your affection to Me. Reach out your hand and say, Dad I want to come home. As soon as you do, you will be there. With Me.

How to Respond

  • Set aside your pride and your worry about what others think of you. Seek the Lord in a quiet place — even if it requires noise cancelling headphones to get quiet.
  • If you have never given your life to Jesus, here’s how you can do that. (Link)
  • Pray, Jesus, I want to return to You. I need Your touch, Your grace, Your love, Your wisdom. I need Your forgiveness. I am sorry I ever left Your side. I want to come home to You. I want to see my destiny through Your eyes. I want You to be my anchor and my firm foundation. I”m sorry for all of the ways I have fallen short. He will meet you wherever you are. He is already right there with you.
  • Declare, I am a child of the Most High King. I have been saved by the finished work of Jesus. He has forgiven me. He has clothed me in robes of righteousness. And He and all of Heaven are celebrating my return home to Him.”Decree, I will never leave Jesus again. I don’t have to fear separation from Him, because He lives inside of me. I will shake off the worries of what peers, colleagues, friends and enemies might think. And I will walk boldly and confidently in my secured destiny in Him. As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
