Today’s Readings:
1 Thessalonians 5
Revelation 12

4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief; 5 for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness;

1 Thessalonians 5:4-5

The Lord says,
Stir up affection for Me. Foster connection with Me. Be ever reaching out to Me for more. Continually draw close and then nearer. Come. Sit. Dwell with Me. Perch high up here next to Me, and view things from My perspective. Things look pretty broken, damaged and unfinished, don’t they? It looks pretty dark, doesn’t it? You can see the darkness even chases some people around. It follows them. Others, it has enveloped completely like a cloud. Yet others wear it proudly like a cloak.

The ones who wear the darkness proudly are operating with evil intent and with murder in their hearts. The ones who have been enveloped are being held captive by the darkness, and they are cooperating with darkness as a survival tactic. But they hate the darkness. The ones being chased and followed closely by darkness may be unaware that darkness is pursing them and nipping at their heels. They may recognize it and be fleeing from it.

Running from the darkness is not a long-term strategy.
Turning around and confronting it, commanding it to leave in the authority given to you by Jesus is the way to stop it in its tracks. But many do not yet know how to war with the weapons of spiritual warfare. Many do not understand the vulnerability they are operating in as ones apart from the Body of Christ. Even many believers are operating in great vulnerability without the full armor of God and the weapons of spiritual warfare.

6 so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober. 7 For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night. 8 But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation.

1 Thessalonians 5:6-8

Your first and most powerful weapon of defense and salvation is the blood of Jesus. When your life has been covered by the blood of Jesus, you are marked in the spirit as cleansed, set apart, protected. Though the blood is a marker, you must actively war with it. You must actively claim it over your life to receive maximum protection. Like all weapons, it works best when you wield it, when you use it. This is why communion is so important. It reminds you of the power of the blood of Christ. Then you in turn can remind the enemy that you are protected by the blood, and he cannot trespass anywhere that is covered by Jesus’s blood.

11 And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.

Revelation 12:11

The spirit world, like the physical world responds to messages, decrees, declarations. This is why it is important, vital, to strengthen yourself in Me — through songs, worship, thanksgiving and recalling our past victories and My faithfulness. My joy is your strength. You can steward joy when your heart is lifted because of the recollection of My goodness, My faithfulness, My unchanging nature. Take these recollections and war with them. Declare the truths you know — that I never lose, I never fail, I never forsake or abandon you, that I Am a mighty fortress and tower, a refuge and strength, that I Am always victorious and this time is no different.

16 Rejoice always; 17 pray without ceasing; 18 in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 19 Do not quench the Spirit; 20 do not despise prophetic utterances. 21 But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;22 abstain from every form of evil.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-22

Words have power. Wield them purposefully. Decree what is to come — the failure and the demise of the enemy, the destruction of the enemy’s structures and plans, the rising up of the faithful of the Lord, revival, breakthrough and My justice. Decree what I have told you and what I have planted in your heart as vision. We are pulling those things into reality when you decree them out loud. Words matter, and your voice is a weapon. Your voice is a weapon, and your words are the ammunition. Take aim carefully. Speak only the truth and the future I have set in your heart or spoken in My Word. This is how we fight. This is how we fight.

Be a happy soldier. Be a confident soldier, because you are warring and fighting from victory. And victory is nearer than it has ever been. In these days of darkness war with laughter, war with song and celebration. The winning stance is ours. The victory will be too.

How to Respond

  • Ask the Lord to teach you how to strengthen yourself in Him and how to approach and be successful at spiritual warfare.
  • Pray, Lord send me strategies, resources and revelation to help me in this spiritual war. Help me to not get out in front of You or Your instruction. Reveal to me what to pray, declare, decree and how to protect myself, my family and my property from the dark schemes of the enemy.
  • Declare, the Lord is great and greatly to be praised. He is the Victorious One. I and my family, home, business and property are covered by the powerful and unmatched blood of Jesus. The enemy has no legal right to approach us.
  • Decree, the Lord never loses and He never fails. This time is no different. The enemy always loses, and he is losing right now. The structures, plans and devices of the enemy are being destroyed and will no longer have power.
  • Decree, Those on the side of the Lord are rising up in strength and in victory, because we are on the winning side and have nothing to fear. Revival is here. Breakthrough is here. Financial prosperity is here. Family restoration is here. An end to trafficking in drugs and people is here. Healing is here. Life more abundant is here. The grace of the Lord is here. Truth is winning and lies are being dismantled. The freedom of the Lord is here. Victory is here!
