Today’s Reading:
Isaiah 43
14 Thus says the Lord your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel,
Isaiah 43:14-17 NASB 1995
“For your sake I have sent to Babylon,
And will bring them all down as fugitives,
[c]Even the Chaldeans, into the ships [d]in which they rejoice.
15 “I am the Lord, your Holy One,
The Creator of Israel, your King.”
16 Thus says the Lord,
Who makes a way through the sea
And a path through the mighty waters,
17 Who brings forth the chariot and the horse,
The army and the mighty man
(They will lie down together and not rise again;
They have been quenched and extinguished like a wick):
The Spirit of the Living God says,
I’m birthing something new. I’m birthing something brand new. It will come onto the scene unexpectedly, and it will be full of vibrant and delightful life. You are the sheep of My keeping. I’m the Good Shepherd. I never let you down. We are entering a new place, a new time, a new phase. It is linked to Me birthing something new. Where life had been one way, where norms had been going in a certain way, where routines and expectations and systems worked a certain way, I Am birthing something brand new. It will be like the old way has been cut off. It will be like the old ways are no longer available to you.
18 “Do not call to mind the former things,
Isaiah 43:18-19 NASB 1995
Or ponder things of the past.
19 “Behold, I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.
The old systems will be decommissioned and in parallel new systems will be brought to life. Hidden from view in places you could not see or fathom, in places and ways you did not know existed — new systems were being built. New ways were being fashioned and formed and established. It will be like a lever will be pulled, like a giant power lever. And the old ways will be turned off. The dark and corrupt, the corroded and the dysfunctional but normal ways will be shut off, shut down, and access to those will be severed. And right in parallel new systems and new ways will be opened. They have been built in secret, and they will bring light and life, delight. They are not like the ways of old — which have been corrupted or were built of corruption from the beginning. These ways are made of something entirely different. These ways are pure and light-filled. These ways have the ability to remain beautiful, worthy and well-functioning. Some of these ways have been established so that their mechanisms are perpetual and self- sustaining — so that they stay far out of the reach of man’s hands to maintain their purity. Safeguards for many of these new systems and ways have been built into the design.
20 “The beasts of the field will glorify Me,
Isaiah 43:20-21 NASB 1995
The jackals and the ostriches,
Because I have given waters in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert,
To give drink to My chosen people.
21 “The people whom I formed for Myself
Will declare My praise.
Life will be different. The systems and ways and norms and routines will shift and adapt with the new realities of what I Am birthing. We are going from dark ways to light ways. We are going from corrupted ways to safeguarded, pure ways. Life will be different here. It’s like I Am taking you into a new pasture that you have never visited or seen before. The old pasture will be cut off, and the new glorious one will make it so that you never dream of going back.
How to Respond
- Trust the Lord with your life and the times in which we live. Trust Him with all of your mind, heart, soul and strength.
- Pray, Lord, Your ways and Your works are unfathomable. Your thoughts are higher than my thoughts and Your ways are much higher than my ways, yet You still choose to invite me into partnership. Help me to stay close to You. Help me to not question Your moves. I want to be busy about My Father’s business, so that I have a part in the big changes and the new thing You are birthing.
- Declare, the Lord determines and changes the times and seasons. My life is in His hands. He is birthing something new that will take us from the ways of darkness to the ways of light. He is working in secret to cut off the ways of darkness, so they cannot go where we are going. He is the Good Shepherd, and I am under His watchful care.
- Decree, I will trust the Lord in this time of major change. I will stay busy about the work He has called me to do, because He has purpose in it. The Lord wastes nothing, and He does not call me to spin my wheels. I will not stop the work He has called me to do even if I don’t understand how it fits into the bigger picture and plan. I will remain faithful to His calling and stay close to His heart. I will see the Lord dramatically shift us from systems of darkness to systems of light.
