Today’s Reading:
Psalm 144
Psalm 147
Proverbs 4

12 Let our sons in their youth be as grown-up plants,
And our daughters as corner pillars fashioned as for a palace;
13 Let our garners be full, furnishing every kind of produce,
And our flocks bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields;
14 Let our cattle bear
Without mishap and without loss,
Let there be no outcry in our streets!
15 How blessed are the people who are so situated;
How blessed are the people whose God is the Lord!

Psalm 144:12-15

The Spirit of the Lord says,
Delight in the simple things. Celebrate the simple victories. Treasure and enjoy life. Let your heart be filled with gladness, gratitude and awe at the simple things. Let your pace slow down and your laughter be quick. Choose to live in the moment, in the progress, in the journey, in the space in between where you have been and where you desire to be. Live a lifestyle of worship and thanksgiving. Crown Me as king of your heart. Let each step you take be one that you purpose to enjoy, to relish, to breathe in deeply. Don’t rush from here to there. Don’t be so ready to to buzz on to the next thing. Life is about living. Joy is for now. Joy is here for the taking, the experiencing, the savoring. Lean into the now. Ask Me for eyes to see the world with wonder and childlike delight.

12 Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem!
Praise your God, O Zion!
13 For He has strengthened the bars of your gates;
He has blessed your sons within you.
14 He makes peace in your borders;
He satisfies you with the finest of the wheat.

Psalm 147:12-14

Your heart is My most prized treasure. Let it be light, filled with joy and tender. Let your heart be touched easily by the lives around you and the moments you walk through. Keep your heart sensitive and open. Don’t let it callous. Don’t build walls around it. I will show you how to protect it righteously, healthily. I will repair it and heal it when life calls for that too. Live with an open and tender heart. Give and receive. Love and be loved. Crown Me your king.

Give thanks with a grateful heart, and live with your life wide open to those permitted entry. Build a beautiful boundary around the perimeter of your life and heart, and live wild and free within it. Be purposeful and diligent about who is allowed into your inner circle, because this this the wide open pasture of your heart. Cultivate a space where it is safe to live wild, abandoned, heart-forward, love-forward, joy-forward. Choose the entrants and the joiners wisely. Not many should be permitted into the beautiful private pasture of your heart. Life beyond the protected but wild pasture of your heart is also beautiful, but it’s a little further out. It’s for those who have less access, for those who may be wonderful but don’t gain inner circle, heart access.

23 Watch over your heart with all diligence,
For from it flow the springs of life.

Proverbs 4:23

It is good and wise to protect your heart, your life and your family with boundaries built in concentric circles. Not all should have equal access. Not all should gain complete entry. Build wise boundaries, and choose wisely who to permit into each of the concentric circles. This sets you up for more carefree living, for more delighted living, because you know where you can fully let your guard down and where to be more protective of your heart and family and home. This is a key to carefree, glorious living. This is a key to being able to live in delight, to live in the moment.

How to Respond

  • Cultivate and live with a heart of thanksgiving and worship.
  • Be deliberate in where you put your focus. Choose to live in the moment.
  • Pray, Holy Spirit thank You for Your wisdom. Thank You for instruction and strategies for how to protect my heart and home in a way that still allows me to be me, that still allows me to fully live wild and free, connected to You. Help me to see how to build these concentric circles of access to my heart, life and family. Help me to choose wisely where to place people, so that I can live carefree and joy-filled in my tightest circle and can enjoy my time in the circles beyond that one.
  • Decree, I will build wise boundaries around my heart, life and family that allow me to live carefree, live in the moment and enjoy the ones closest to my heart with abandon. I will ensure that the boundaries I set are ones that don’t alienate people but provide me with appropriate protection and distance from my heart that is wise and healthy.
