On May 7th, 2021 I heard from the Lord about red lightning being a sign that the storm is near – meaning large scale exposure of evil.

Watch for signs in the sky. Watch for strange warnings in the sky. Red lightning. Strange storms and strange signs in the sky will tell you that the storm is coming, that it is near.

On August 26th, another report of red lightning was made — this time in Chile’s Atacama Desert.

A few key excerpts from the story:

“The La Silla Astronomical Observatory belongs to the European Southern Observatory and is located in the Atacama Desert, Chile, on Mount La Silla, which is 2400 meters high. Near this observatory, scientists managed to capture very rare atmospheric phenomena – sprites. These red lightnings, which are a huge concentration of electrical discharges, appear high above thunderclouds and are carried tens of kilometers into the atmosphere.”

“Only in 1989, American researchers were able to photograph sprites for the first time, and since then scientists have been studying them. Over the past 30 years or so, these sprites have been captured by cameras hundreds of times, even filmed from the ISS, but red lightning is still very rare.”

Chile’s Atacama is the driest non-polar desert in the world and is commonly known as the driest place in the world. The desert is characterized by it’s almost a complete lack of precipitation. Annual average rainfall there is about 0.6in, though some places receive half that, and a number of weather stations have never received rain. (Wikipedia link here.)

The human rights being violated in the Atacama are environmental — including industrial consumption of the already scare water supply by the lithium mining industry and toxins being released into the ground water by the dumping of tons of fast fashion clothing items into the desert.

The process of mining lithium in Chile’s Atacama is extremely water intensive and is causing significant ecological disruption to the region. The mining disproportionately impacts the lives of the indigenous Atacameno people, by “depleting their water supplies and affecting farming and pastoral practices.” The indigenous people are suffering the negative consequences of the lithium mining while receiving none of the benefits.” (Source article.)

Lithium is a key ingredient in rechargeable batteries — used in technology such as cell phones, computers and electric vehicles. (More on lithium, it’s applications and environmental impact.)

“Mining activities in the Atacama are estimated to consume 65 percent of the area’s water, and they have in some cases contaminated streams and caused significant fall in groundwater. Scientists say the overexploitation of groundwater has already weakened the basin’s fragile and biodiverse ecosystems.” (Source article.)

The lithium mining is also reportedly impacting the ecology of the salt flats, and in turn creating a decline in the flamingo population — which is also a major tourist attraction to the area that supports the local economy. (Source here.)

The Atacama has become fast-fashion’s dumping ground. It is home to mountains upon mountains of discarded clothing — most made of synthetic materials that are not bio-degradable. The impact of these tons of rejected clothing on the environment include the “contamination of the water layers, toxic smoke through burning and the release of microplastics from garments into the environment that often reaches the sea.” (Article here.)

Another rare natural phenomenon happened within the same week as the red lightning observation — a blooming of wildflowers in the desert. (Source here.) This happens in the Atacama every 5-7 years.

I believe that the rainfall and subsequent blooms are a sign to the people of the Atacama and of Chile that the Lord has seen their plight and heard their prayers for a replenishment of water.

How to Respond

  • Pray, Lord we ask that you bring justice to the Chilean and Atacameno people and to their land. Bring new solutions for sustainable, clean energy and manufacturing that don’t harm water supply, delicate ecologies, wildlife or people. Thank You for the rain that brought wildflowers to the desert. It reminds us that nothing is impossible for You.
  • Declare, the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof. Through Him all things were made, without Him nothing was made that has been made. The Lord sees the suffering inflicted and injustice done to all people, and He will hear their cries.
  • Decree,
I will not turn a blind eye to the suffering that is happening for the sake of so-called clean energy or cheap clothing.
