1 John 3
”Don’t set the affections of your heart on this world or in loving the things of the world. The love of the Father and the love of the world are incompatible. For all that the world can offer us—the gratification of our flesh, the allurement of the things of the world, and the obsession with status and importance —none of these things come from the Father but from the world. This world and its desires are in the process of passing away, but those who love to do the will of God live forever.“
1 John 2:15-17 TPT
The Spirit of the Living God says,
Walk with me in trust and in tight, quick obedience. These are days to walk the narrow line, the narrow way, the narrow path. Trust that I Am with you, and I Am for you. Trust that I will never leave you nor forsake you. Trust that I Am leading you into the brilliance of a new day that your heart and mind cannot fathom. Trust Me like a child. Obey me like a well mannered, eager to please child, and you will be delighted along your way.
Here’s how we can be sure that we’ve truly come to know God: if we keep his commands. If someone claims, “I have come to know God by experience,” yet doesn’t keep God’s commands, he is a phony and the truth finds no place in him. But the love of God will be perfected within the one who obeys God’s Word. We can be sure that we’ve truly come to live in intimacy with God, not just by saying, “I am intimate with God,” but by walking in the footsteps of Jesus.
1 John 2:3-6 TPT
The anxiety and the angst come in when you are wrestling with whether to obey or whether you heard My voice. Grab ahold of and own your child-like faith, put on your child-like faith, and all of that angst, second-guessing and worry will not be your portion Simply reach up for My outstretched hand, and join Me as I lead. Join Me as I guide. Join Me as I say, “this is the way, walk in it.” The terrain may not be easy, but I will light your steps for you, one step at a time. I will help you with your footing, one step at a time. This is not the easy way, but it is the simple way. The instructions of My Spirit are rarely complicated. They are simple. They often cut against the grain of your will, your ego, your desires, but they are simple.
The beautiful thing about My instruction is that obedience brings relief to the pressure of anticipation and the moment of decision. Quick obedience is good for the heart and mind. It keeps your life simple and free from the torment of finding excuses and trying to squirm out of what I have clearly instructed you to do. It keeps you free from the regret of inaction, disobedience and missed opportunity.
So these are his commands: that we continually place our trust in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and that we keep loving one another, just as he has commanded us. For all who obey his commands find their lives joined in union with him, and he lives and flourishes in them. We know and have proof that he constantly lives and flourishes in us, by the Spirit that he has given us.
1 John 3:23-24 TPT
This is a time and a season like none you have experienced. One thing remains the same. Me. I remain the same. My ways remain the same. My trustworthiness remains the same. So trust in Me. Obey Me, and your yoke will indeed be easy and your burden will be light. Delight in the adventure of knowing Me, of walking hand-in-hand with Me, of saying yes with abandon and following Me.
How to Respond
- Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, mind, soul and strength. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight.
- Trust Him with your life and future. Obey His instruction quickly and completely.
- Pray, Holy Spirit thank You for Your voice of instruction. Thank You for Your prompting, Your comfort and Your direction. Help me to put on the faith of a child, and walk with You unhesitatingly and without excuse. I want to live in total abandon to Your Spirit, filled with the joy of Your Presence. I love You Lord.
- Declare, great is the Lord and worthy of all glory, honor and praise. His word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. He is my firm foundation. In Him I have nothing and no one to fear, and I cannot and will not be shaken.
- Decree, I will walk hand-in-hand with My Savior. I will not make excuses for why I cannot follow Him. I will pick up my cross daily, and follow Him. I will live with the faith of a child and respond to the Lord as one eager to please.
