Today’s Reading:
Psalms 4-5
“God, you are my righteousness, my Champion Defender. Answer me when I cry for help! Whenever I was in distress, you enlarged me. I’m being squeezed again—I need your kindness right away! Grant me your grace, hear my prayer, and set me free!”
Psalms 4:1 TPT
The Spirit of the Lord says,
Put it on the altar. Give it to Me as an offering. Give Me that burden, that fear, that concern, that weight. Set it on the altar, and watch what I do with it. I will ignite it. I will cause Holy Spirit fire to fall upon it. Freedom comes in the offering. Why do you hold so tightly to that which burdens you and gives nothing in return? Put it on the altar, and watch Me light it up with Holy Spirit fire. Freedom is in the fire.
You ask Me to change it, to turn it around, to bring the breakthrough. Let go so I can. Put it on the altar, so My fire can come and fall on it. Your releasing it as an offering to Me gives Me space to move and gives you space to experience freedom. You ask Me to turn the situation around. Perhaps you are the one who needs to be turned around. Perhaps its a matter of perspective. Perhaps its a matter of control. Relinquish control. Relinquish your expectations of what it should look like. Put it on the altar, and let Me be the judge. I Am the perfect judge, but you have to put it in My hands.
“Bring to Yahweh the sacrifice of righteousness and put your trust in him. Lord, prove them wrong when they say, “God can’t help you!” Let the light of your radiant face break through and shine upon us! The intense pleasure you give me surpasses the gladness of harvest time, even more than when the harvesters gaze upon their ripened grain and when their new wine overflows.”
Psalms 4:5-7 TPT
Stir up delight and affection for Me in your heart. Stir up the expectation that I will come through, that I will not leave you hanging, that I will do what I said I will do, that I always have your future and your best interest in mind, that My plans are perfect and My ways are higher than your ways. Those are right beliefs. Set those things on the altar that have become a burden, a weight, a crucible, and rearrange your beliefs about Me. Choose right thinking and right beliefs about Me, and ask for My fire to come down and fall on everything that concerns you. My fire purifies. My fire cleanses. My fire sets holy ones apart and on fire for Me. My fire removes that which has no place and it burns up the ties that bind. Ask for My Holy Spirit fire to do its work. Ask for it to fall and bring freedom to your life.
“At each and every sunrise you will hear my voice as I prepare my sacrifice of prayer to you. Every morning I lay out the pieces of my life on the altar and wait for your fire to fall upon my heart.”
Psalms 5:3 TPT
Set everything on the altar that is weighing you down, and watch what I do with it. You will be surprised and amazed. You will be relieved, and you will be freed. Come, lay your burdens down. Place them on the altar as an act of obedience and submission. It may feel like a sacrifice to give up that which has been tormenting you, burdening you, weighing you down. It may feel like a sacrifice, but it will bring freedom. Ask Me to cause My Holy Spirit fire to fall upon your offering, and see what I do with it. Watch how freedom comes. Freedom is in the offering and extreme freedom when Holy Spirit fire falls and consumes what you have given in faithfulness and submission. You will experience a full measure of My goodness surround you as you do.
“But let them all be glad, those who turn aside to hide themselves in you. May they keep shouting for joy forever! Overshadow them in your presence as they sing and rejoice. Then every lover of your name will burst forth with endless joy. Lord, how wonderfully you bless the righteous. Your favor wraps around each one and covers them under your canopy of kindness and joy.”

How to Respond
- Ask the Lord what burdens, weights, problems and circumstances you need to bring to His altar. Be quick to bring them and to ask Him to cause Holy Spirit fire to fall on them, perfect them and have His way with them.
- Pray, Lord thank You that it’s not Your design or desire for me to live burdened and weighted down with worry, problems and fear. Help me to place all of those things on the altar. Cause Your fire to fall on them, to purify them, to transform them and to free me from control and expectations.
- Declare, the Lord is calling me to bring all of my burdens, concerns, weights, worries and fears and place them on the altar. He is calling me to surrender in order to free me.
- Decree, I will relinquish control and expectations. I will lay all that is burdening, scaring, weighing and worrying me onto the altar of the Lord. I give the Lord permission to have His way with all of those and ask that His Holy Spirit fire fall upon all that I surrender in order to perfect it and to free me.
